Tahira Hyman is a Licensed Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist based in the Raleigh-Durham area, working with patients online via telehealth. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University. Shortly after graduation, she began a fifteen-month dietetic internship where she gained a wide array of experiences in clinical dietetics, food service nutrition, and counseling/outpatient nutrition services.
During her internship, she completed clinical rotations at Wake Medical Hospital, McLeod Regional Medical Center, and gained additional experience at the University of North Carolina Hospital. During her internship, she obtained experience working with all ages from children to adults.
Tahira was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, Home of the ECU pirates. She discovered a love and passion for nutrition through her own health journey and weight struggles from a young age. Throughout her childhood and as an athlete competing in all-female sports, she endured pressures that are commonly associated with maintaining a certain body image. Additional complications arose in her personal life from the family pressures of eating habits. Tahira found comfort in learning and practicing healthy habits and tools to overcome these obstacles. All of these life experiences brought about a strong, unwavering desire to learn more about health and wellness and the overall impact nutrition has on the body. As an adult, Tahira has found success from learning that consistency, determination, and patience can go a long way in making a difference in health and wellness.
Tahira believes in implementing practical tools that will promote mindful eating habits. As a Registered Dietitian, Tahira has a passion for working with adolescents, teens, and women. Her areas of expertise include nutrition for diabetes management, weight management, GI health, and hormone balance. She remains dedicated to working alongside all age groups as they succeed in achieving their goals.
