Karen is a Graphic Designer and illustration enthusiast with a passion for clean and legible design work. As the Marketing & Graphics Coordinator, she is responsible for company communication projects, graphic design, social media management, marketing coordination, and program support.
Originally from McKinney, Texas, Karen moved to North Carolina in 2012. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Meredith College after completing an applied science degree in graphic design & advertising at Wake Technical Community College. A self-described academic overachiever, Karen also completed design certification and an intensive minor in Studio Fine Arts while earning her degree, supplementing her education with private art lessons focusing on color theory, composition, and figure drawing. The highlight of her educational pathway included a semester abroad in Italy to study photography, Renaissance art, and Italian culture.
Karen began her love affair with art and design at an early age when her mother gave her a sketchbook and a set of Prismacolor pencils. Her favorite thing to tell people is, “I think by drawing.” Over time, her love of books and reading began to blend with her artistic skills, manifesting itself as enthusiasm for typography, user-friendly design, and copywriting. Her particular interests in design center around the natural world, food, and sustainable living.
Karen’s goal is to create beautiful, informative, and inspiring graphic design that promotes a healthy, balanced approach to food and lifestyle.
