Carrie’s decision to change careers tobecome a dietitian was imperative when both of her parents were diagnosed with diabetes. After graduating from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Food & Nutrition, Carrie began her nutrition career at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. While working there, she educated patients on a variety of disease states and how to live more healthfully to improve their conditions. She also worked closely with other clinicians to help improve the status of malnourished patients and assess the needs of individuals on nutrition support.
During her time at the medical center, she recognized that helping others to prevent chronic diseases was a path she was meant to follow and is something she is passionate about when helping the patients she works with at Summerfield Custom Wellness. Since 2014, Carrie has counseled patients with a wide range of nutritional needs to improve physical and emotional health, strengthen relationships with food, and make positive lifestyle changes to enhance the quality of life.
