Caroline Hood is a Licensed and Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and Summerfield’s Nutrition Communications Specialist. She develops nutrition resources and program materials for our patients and team.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Clemson University, Caroline attended Tulane University for her dietetic internship. While completing various rotations in New Orleans, from community programs and teaching kitchens to cardiac rehab and other specialized clinics, Caroline infused her nutrition experience with the unique aspects of the local cultures and cuisines. She then worked at a hospital in Los Angeles, serving a diverse multi-cultural population. Through these experiences, Caroline found her calling to help people in the prevention of disease with a focus on balance and sustainability.
Witnessing a close family member make healthy lifestyle changes to tackle high cholesterol inspired Caroline’s interest in nutrition and health, ultimately leading her to a nutrition career. Prior to this position, Caroline worked as an outpatient dietitian at Summerfield for five years, specializing in heart health, PCOS, and blood sugar management.
