Sheri Vettel is a Registered Dietitian in the Durham and Greensboro areas. She has significant experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for a variety of complex health conditions in both clinical and community settings. She received her Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition from Meredith College in 2007 and went on to pursue her Accredited Dietetic Internship Program there as well. She later received her Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which included public health work for a month internationally in Zambia. In recent years she has provided nutrition and wellness talks at community events, as well as nutritious cooking demonstrations at her local farmers market. She completed her Certificate of Functional and Integrative Nutrition in 2019.
Sheri believes in the power of “food as medicine” and enjoys weaving mindfulness and yoga into her nutrition teachings. She understands that making health-related behavior changes can be difficult and hopes to empower her clients with the knowledge, support and skills they need to cultivate a healthy lifestyle that is both sustainable and enjoyable. Sheri starts where her clients are along their wellness journey and hopes to help them achieve confidence in the kitchen and an overall peace with food. She is an advocate for increasing access to nutritious foods in the community, and in her previous role she developed a healthy food pantry program.
Sheri has two young sons and enjoys traveling, camping, drumming, gardening, and hiking with her family. She teaches local yoga classes inspired by Food & Flow (nutrition and yoga) for both adults and children. Her favorite fruits and veggies? Fresh figs, avocado, and okra!
